Web Designer - cStreet Campaigns

Design for Social Change as our new Web Designer

cStreet Campaigns is a digital agency that develops powerful tools and strategies to win change.

We have a roster of exceptional, international clients & partners who are making real impact in politics, the environment, labour relations, and human rights, to name a few. We work exclusively with NationBuilder as a platform and pride ourselves on being experts in how to use the tools to get the most out of the platform.

The job:

Our clients come to us with really specific mandates: to win campaigns, to communicate their missions, to increase donations, to name a few. We’re looking for a thoughtful designer who can understand what our clients are trying to accomplish and can build experiences online that help them win. This includes, but isn’t limited to, designing websites, social media shareables, or digital advertising. Our clients are fearless; we want our designs to be fearless too. We’re looking for someone who can think big and take a risk.

You will:

  • Work with a creative director to develop design concepts

  • Develop site maps, user flows and user experiences that help clients meet the goals of their campaigns

  • Draft and prototype web sites using Invision or other prototyping tools

  • Design websites, social media shareables, or advertising campaigns with a focus on communication and usability.

  • Build a style guide and brand protocol where necessary, or help create web properties of existing guides and protocols

  • Establish smooth user experience across browsers, mobile or desktop.

  • Work with our developers to test for bugs, browser and mobile compatibility of client properties.

  • Ensure compliance with basic principles of web accessibility.

  • Help present designs, UX and templates to clients, over the web using presentation software like Invision or sat across from them at a board table with paper in a smart shirt.

Skills and Requirements

  • Be a complete boss with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator (primary for web design).

  • Demonstrated master of design principles, including, but not limited to composition, typography, and colour.

  • Familiarity with NationBuilder is prefered but not required

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JQuery, Javascript & Ajax prefered but not required

  • Ability to learn new design techniques and UX tools

  • Passion for progressive politics and social change issues

  • Take initiative, and problem solve independently

You should be:

Progressive and want to change the world. You’d rather see Tom Mulcair running your country than any of those other folks. You think legislation to control catastrophic climate change is a better idea than dangerous pipelines. You think First Nations people have a right to self-determination and nationhood. You love data-driven decision making.

We welcome and encourage individuals who identify as members of marginalized communities to apply including Indigenous Peoples, people of colour, women, people identifying as LGBTQI, members of ethnic minorities, immigrants and people with disabilities.

What you’ll love about working at cStreet

  • No soul-destroying corporate clients. Ever.

  • We use the best internal tech available: Google Apps, Slack, Basecamp, Harvest, and NationBuilder.

  • Room to advance as part of a rapidly growing team.

  • Access to our discretionary health benefit & professional development fund

  • Regular professional development opportunities (conferences, trainings etc)

  • A brand new brick and beam office at Queen & Spadina in downtown Toronto

  • Regular catered lunches

  • A loaded snack cupboard & fridge stocked with beer and other drinks

Salary: $40,000-45,000/year and negotiable for the right person
