Career: Lead Developer

We’re looking for a Lead Developer to help grow our team. cStreet is a small agency that services organizations, political candidates, higher ed institutions, and social movements in Canada and abroad. We help progressives campaign and win on the web with smart tools. Our goal is to empower our clients with great design and user experience to make lasting social change. The Lead Developer will be the head of our future dev team and this is a leadership position and we are looking for a self-driven individual who is eager to contribute their ideas.

As the Lead Developer you will:

Use what you know and can find out to scope projects for clients
Collaborate with the Digital Director and Creative Director to help and design projects
Understand campaign goals and strategies and use them to guide development
Plan projects out from start to finish
Execute on projects within budgets and timelines
Maintain our existing apps and products
Have vision for the future of the agency, and for your team
Mentor more junior team members
Collaborate and exchange ideas with other developers client-side
Connect the agency to the broader dev community
Use your work to learn, grow, and try new things
Grow your passion for social justice

Note: When we say apps, we mean web apps built in AWS on Rails.

Your first 6 months will include:

Building an app that syncs events from one platform to another
Scoping and building a reporting dashboard
Consulting with a client's data-analytics team on an enterprise level CRM integration

Your first year may include:

Developing a better method for the agency to do website bug testing
Building a NationBuilder website theme using CSS grid
Hiring your first team member: a thoughtful and experienced web developer

cStreet works with a number of different products, but our staple is NationBuilder, a combined CMS & CRM billed as “Software for Leaders.” Our clients use NationBuilder for any combination of website, email and communications, volunteer management, field programs, fundraising. NationBuilder has a full, public documented API.

Some languages you will be writing in include: Ruby, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and SASS. NationBuilder uses Liquid, a language developed by Shopify for designers and developers. It’s not hard to learn if you haven’t used it before, and we can provide support to help you learn.

Salary

$60,000-70,000/year and negotiable for the right person
